About Teri
Teri Doepke has called Covington home for decades — not just as an attorney, but as a mother and active member of the community. She knows the people here, the pace of life, and the stakes when someone’s future is on the line in a local courtroom.
Her path to the law started with a fascination for people — how they think, live, and sometimes end up in situations they never expected. That curiosity led her to graduate with honors from the University of Georgia with a degree in Sociology, then earn her law degree from UGA School of Law in 1999.
Early in her career, Teri worked in small law firms, gaining experience in family law and criminal defense. But in 2005, she stepped into public defense in the Alcovy Circuit — work that would shape her mission forever. Within a year, she was promoted to Chief Assistant Public Defender, leading teams and handling some of the circuit’s most challenging cases.
What she saw there was a system that could overwhelm people who didn’t know how to navigate it — good people facing life-changing consequences without anyone to truly fight for them. That’s when Teri decided to take a different path, founding The Doepke Law Firm to give clients the same fierce defense she’d provide for her own family.
Today, her clients know her as both a skilled strategist and a steady presence — someone who listens without judgment, explains without legal jargon, and builds defense strategies with precision and care. The result? People walk into court with confidence, knowing they have a fighter in their corner.
In recognition of her leadership and impact, Teri was named the recipient of the 2025 Titan Award by the Newton County Chamber of Commerce — an honor that celebrates a woman whose strength, intellect, and achievement inspire and uplift the community. “The Newton Chamber’s Titan Award honors a woman who stands out for strength, intellect and achievement,” said Debbie Harper, Chamber president. “Someone whose impact inspires and uplifts our community.”
Teri is also a proud member of the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) and a graduate of its NHTSA-Approved Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Course, one of the most respected credentials in DUI defense nationwide. This advanced training enhances her ability to challenge flawed police procedures and protect clients facing DUI charges across the Newton County area.
And she’s not stopping there. Teri’s vision for The Doepke Law Firm is to keep leveling the playing field in Georgia courtrooms, one client at a time — so more people get the fair chance they deserve to protect their future.
